Charcoal & Chinese Ink

Charcoal is my all time favorite dry medium. It’s messy and gets absolutely everywhere. Which is actually why I like it. Feels like being a kid again. Haha. For these paintings I use charcoal as my base, then I use Chinese Ink Blocks to create the rest of the work. I use minimal color to only highlight it’s intention within the piece. In a manner of speaking, the color sets the mood.

Chinese Ink

Chinese Ink is one of my favorite mediums. I use these cool chinese ink blocks that are hard as stone. It’s a pain trying to get it scratched sometimes. However the color that transforms from it is beautiful. I’m working on several techniques to attempt to master how to use it.
